The surgical technique is based on fat aspiration through cannulas of different thicknesses connected to a vacuum machine. The first step consists of infiltrating the tumescent solution, a mixture of saline to swell the fat, adrenaline to prevent bleeding and local anesthetics. The cannulas create numerous tunnels in the marked area, breaking down and suctioning the fatty tissue in a controlled manner.

The duration of the procedure varies between 30 minutes and several hours depending on the areas treated and the volume to be extracted. The incisions to introduce the cannulas measure between 2 and 4 millimeters, located in strategic positions to minimize their visibility. At the end of the surgery, a girdle or compression garment is placed.

The best results are obtained in people with relatively normal weight who present fat accumulations in localized areas. The determining factor is having firm and elastic skin, since if it presents sagging or hangs, additional techniques such as BodyTite to tighten the skin or dermolipectomy to remove it would be needed. Many patients request liposuction when they actually need lipoabdominoplasty, BodyTite or bariatric surgery.

It is necessary to inform about significant weight losses or gains, pregnancies, smoking and medication.
