About us

In Tiana, 15 kilometers from Barcelona, this center managed by the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Hearts occupies a natural setting surrounded by mountains and open to the sea. The house offers spiritual exercises aimed at religious sisters, priests, and people seeking a spiritual encounter. The sessions begin in the evening and end in the morning of the indicated day, with direction provided by Jesuit fathers.

The center has 77 bright rooms with bathroom and heating, spacious meeting rooms with natural light, and its own traditional kitchen with dining service. The dining room capacity reaches 130 people. The building has access and rooms adapted for people with disabilities.

In addition to spiritual exercises, the space hosts retreats, parish gatherings, institutes of consecrated life, and schools. Gatherings, prayer groups, training courses, conferences, workshops, and lectures are also organized. The corners of the premises are designed to create a welcoming and gathering atmosphere.

The congregation arrived in Cataluña in 1887, when Madre Carmen del Niño Jesús founded several apostolic works in favor of workers. In Tiana, she welcomed the children of farmers with the support of Bishop of Barcelona Jaime Català and the Mir-Ventós couple. On the eve of Saint Joseph's Day in 1887, the bishop authorized the foundation, and the seven sisters settled temporarily in a house on santo Domingo street. The initial school had 40 preschoolers and 58 adults. Two years later, in April 1889, the first stone of the current building was blessed and laid, built thanks to benefactors who wished to dedicate their assets to the Christian education of children and youth.
