About us
Victòria Peñafiel works from her studio on calle Sicília photographing maternity without filters or forced poses. Her approach moves away from postcard images to portray the everyday reality of families with babies and young children, capturing laughter as well as tantrums, tears and anger.
Sessions unfold without following an established script and without watching the clock. The photographer makes subtle provocations to encourage families to play and let themselves go, convinced that the best images emerge when the protagonists enjoy being present. For this to work, she seeks chemistry between herself and the families she photographs.

Her approach stems from understanding maternity as an intense experience that deprives of sleep, tests patience and shakes the foundations of known reality. Although it's brutally demanding and exhausting, it also passes very quickly, and photographs function as treasures that tell family stories.
The studio is located in the Eixample district of Barcelona. Before booking a session, she proposes a conversation to get to know each other and check if there's a connection, as she considers mutual understanding fundamental for the result to reflect what the photographed families are really like.
